I just sold the crown jewel of my collection... and now I feel gutted
This may be something that many of you are familiar with.... selling your most important piece in your collection to pay off some bills.
Today I sold my game used Red Deer Rebels Dion Phaneuf Jersey to a really great collector in Cranbrook, BC. It was a great 03/04 gamer of Phaneuf that was also a cover shoot jersey for Prospect's Magazine.
... the worst part is that the money will be used to pay rent at the University of Alberta. I hope the kids I will be teaching in 2 years appreciate the time, effort, money, sacrifice AND HOCKEY MEMORABILIA I am giving to teach them high school biology.
I could almost cry.

back in 2012 when we first moved into our current house, we had thought we sold our other house, but that fell through and ended up with 2 mortgages for several months. However, it was tough sledding and parted with most of my collection at the time. The only stuff I want to work on getting back is the Decades 80's Team USA Autos.
But other than that, yes, it sucks but you never know when an opportunity will arise to reacquire that piece.

Rraincock-- I feel your pain. It sucks when real life gets in the way of collecting.
Always Looking for:
A) Graded Vintage (Pre-1980) (BGS, BVG, PSA, SGC) in all sports
B) Graded True RC's (No inserts or parallels) (BGS, PSA, SGC) in all sports
C) Certified Auto and GU cards of players from the 70's and further back in all sports

Hoping you can reacquire that piece or something that brings just as much joy.

Not the exact same scenario but still isn't great.
With a lack of funds due to illness, I have had to pass on a few nice game used jerseys.
At some point we gotta do what we can with what we got.
Being on the other side of the fence with endless money would be great for awhile, but if you could just buy everything you wanted to, boredom would ensue and the fun would soon be gone.
Somewhere in between is the happy medium and I wish all could be there.
