Season of Mystery - Leg 8 - Trade Deadline Predictor

It's NHL Trade Deadline time once again! Put on your thinking caps for some GM-level analysis and earn points in our Season of Mystery Contest!



TSN, Sportsnet, and many other armchair hockey experts will be spending the day analyzing the big blockbusters, the game changers, and filling dead air time with bad jokes and pondering the implications of what the big shift in 4th liners will mean for the complicated playoff picture!

This year's edition of the Trade Deadline Predictor will be comprise of three parts...

Part 1

It is time for you to put your powers of prognostication to use - we have compiled (thanks to our friends at TSN's TradeCentre page) a list of 20 players who are considered prime targets to be traded at this year's deadline.

Predict whether and where you think each player listed here will be traded on February 27th, 28th, or March 1st, aka at the trade deadline. Just list their destination beside their name, or if you think they will not be just post "Will Not Be Traded" - for each correct guess you will receive one-half point in the Season of Mystery standings. Here is the list (link will allow you to look at stats & info for each player) of top-end tradebait:

Part 2

Part two of the Trade Deadline Predictor will be to provide the number of draft choices, by round, that will be moved as parts of the trades made at the deadline. There are seven rounds in the draft, so you will have to provide a list of numbers. Remember, first-round draft choices are not necessarily at a premium this year, so make sure you're connecting the dots with the big trade bait players above.

In the same PM to RGM81, send the list of picks by round in this format:

As above, each correct guess will earn you half a point in the Season of Mystery standings.

Part 3

Finally, we want you to pick three teams that will buyers, three teams that will be sellers, and three teams that will stand pat at the deadline.
Now, this is a bit of a gray area where some judgment calls will need to be made. There will be teams that make trades that aren't necessarily designed to improve the 2016-17 edition of the team but aren't exactly dumping a bunch of expiring contracts to build for the future. We can play those by ear. For the purposes of this contest, "standing pat" will be taken to mean teams that make zero trades at all on the 27th to the 1st.

In that same PM to RGM81 send the list for Part 3 in this format:

Entry Rules

All trades from February 27th, 28th and March 1st only will be counted towards the contest results. Any players who are traded before February 23rd (Thursday) will be substituted for another player on the TSN list. If you have sent your entry prior to then, you will be given the option to edit that selection.

One entry per member.

Deadline for entry will be Saturday, February 25th, at 4pm PST.

There is no trade requirement for this contest leg.

All SCF Members in good standing, including the SCF Staff, are eligible to participate in this contest.

Members must remain in good standing throughout the contest period. Any negative feedback or major infractions will result in a disqualification from the contest.
