I really don't have a "specific" type of music that I like. However, I really can't stand the "junk" that is excessively loud and/or the lyrics can't be understood. Why do some individuals/groups/band just make songs that are just plain loud but can't be understood ? And why do people listen to that loud junk and in the process ruin their hearing ?

Rodney- There's a saying that goes: "If you can't play well, then play loud". I think a lot of groups have taken that to heart.

Older country - Brooks & Dunn is my favorite, and 60s surf music. Lately I've been listening to 50s and 60s more than anything else. I will stop what I doing to listen to Duke of Earl for example. I have been trying to expand my musical palette and have been trying to listen to older stuff on YouTube. But it's not as good as what came later in my opinion. So far I've spent a full day on 40s, 30s and 20s music. (Each). A lot of the music sounded very similar back then, and I recognized some of it from Tom & Jerry. I plan to try to get back further at some point but since NHL and NBA started I don't have as much time for music.

I'm a metal head, too, but while I love the "classics" (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest) I'm more into death metal --- Obituary, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Origin, Pestilence, Nile, etc.
