Series Discussion Thread - Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks

So I'm 0-1 on the series sucking. Did anyone watch the 3rd??? OMG. That was fun. Yeah the outcome was what I wanted.... but a 6 goal period? If that happened more often, the NHL's TV numbers might improve.

I'm predicting this series actually sucks, and ins't particularly interesting at all.

Why? The Ducks arn't going to keep up with the Oilers.... it's going to be over in 5.... and 3 of the 4 Edmonton wins are lopsided :)

So many "experts" were saying that the Oilers should have taken the smaller Sam Bennett with that pick instead of big Leon. Admittedly we don't know what Bennett's numbers might be like on a line with 97, but either way I'm not disappointed with how Draisaitl is doing this year at all. Hell, I'm sure many Buffalo fans would rather they took Leon instead of Sam Reinhart right about now...

I was at the watch party at Roger's Arena last night. Hell of an atmosphere and man did it get loud when the Oilers scored. Almost as loud as the rain of boos every time SportsNet blacked out the screen. ;)

I absolutely love the atmosphere in Rogers. I was at game 1 in Edmonton for San Jose series and OMFG was the noise just out of this world. I may have had tears in my eyes for the anthem. MAYBE.

So it would seem you may just be on the right track here Sean after tonights Oilers win.... Minus the lopsided affect mind you. So far!

I am pondering now. If they do pull through this series, and move on. Does anyone think either St. Louis or Nashville will be easy enough to mow through, and put the Oil on into the cup final... Against Ottawa is my personal hope(Albeit either Washington, or Pittsburgh would more likely be there)?

Not that I'm looking too far ahead, but a projection to a probable outcome.

I would luv to see the Oilers win this series & meet the winner of St. Louis/Nashville ( i think Nashville wins this series) & I think the Oilers can win the next series against either of those teams as well. Talbot is playing Amazingly & what can you say about Draisaitl that hasnt already been said!! The guy has stepped it up more than a notch for sure. McDavid will be heard from in this series still though Kesler is very good at what he does. Would luv to see the Oilers make it to the Finals. A Canadian Team? That has not happened in a while...

Rough game for the Oil, but hey, they've shown they can bounce back big time after games like tonight.

Yeah, I'm sticking with my ""in 5" prediction - but it has not been blowouts, at all.

I have the Oilers going to the finals in my brackett.... taking out Nashville in round 3. I'm sure anyone that looked at it thought I was making a stupid homer pick, but it was totally based on expectations :)

The answer to your question should be "no". Both the Sharks & Ducks should be considered scarier opponents than either Preds or Blues.... honestly, with Chicago gone - I think think there is any reason to doubt that the Oilers could make it all the way.... and Pittsburgh or Washington would be the scary teams three (I have Edmonton over Washington in my brackett!). No... NSH and STL are not going to be pushoveres... but I think if a round 3 series happens for the Oilers, based on what they've done so far - it's fair to expect them to win it.

I want more 9 goal games though.... just need to go the other way.
