    Question about shipping international

Hey guys. I had a question about international shipping rates. Being in the states, what is the cheapest, safest way to ship cards to Canada or other parts of the world? First class is just too expensive for 1 or 2 cards. How do you guys do it? Thank you!

Sadly the $9 rate is the standard going cost right now; there are work-arounds for that, I think they've been posted here before. Something about a reinforced PWE with some cardboard lining it and marking "non-machinable." It's only $4 or so, which can add up pretty quickly.

I have had some shipped to me in a CD shipping package for lower postage so maybe someone from the US can explain the how and why.
The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

On trades with one or two cards I put them in two top loaders, team bag and use a #000 bubble mailer and use the kiosk at the post office to send it. Should come out to less then $3.00. If you are sending thicker cards, you can only send 1 in this fashion. You also don't need the custom form if sending it this way, so there is no tracking of any kind. I have been using this method for a couple of years and only have had one returned for being to thick.

I haven't tried this for overseas so I'm not sure if it would work.

I just recently started printing the labels from Paypal. You type in the weight which is 0lbs 3 ounces type in the customs info. It will be under $3 and you get a customs tracking number. My Post Office didn't let me go any other way than the $9 route but I haven't had any get lost or returned back to me since I have been doing this.

You can practice on paypal. Click on Print shipping label next time you get a payment. Select First class mail international type in the info and it will tell you how much it will be. You wont be charged for it until you click confirm and pay.
