Preferred Grading Service?

With all the services out there now, which is the most accepted / most preferred grading service? BGS? PSA? other?

I would say BGS is above PSA for sports cards. I think people really like the 4 sub categories BGS provides.

I can't say I don't agree, because I don't have all the facts.
If I'm buying a modern card, you betcha I want BGS.

I would say it depends on your strategy, but in general I agree that BGS is preferred over PSA for modern cards. The reason you would use PSA for vintage is partially because of past history regarding grading of a particular card. For example, the standard for grading a Gretzky rookie is PSA.

But, a couple examples to consider:

As a buyer, you can get a BGS 9.5 Connor Mcdavid Young gun for around $300 US right now. The BGS 10 runs a little over $1,000 US. The PSA 10 however steadily brings about $450 US so the market sees the PSA 10 as a little higher quality than the 9.5 in this case. Either is a good choice and there is high demand for both services.

I know a high-volume seller who prefers PSA for moderns because he grades lower priced cards of popular players and takes advantage of PSAs bulk submission specials sometimes getting cards graded for around $8 each (if I remember correctly). This allow him to make money selling cards in the $30 range.

BGS grades hand cut cards. I collect cards of the 1980s and, in average, PSA sells for more on eBay.
