    Winners on this date: Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison, Ricky Rudd, Terry Labonte, Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and Ryan Blaney.

    June 11th, 1989: Ricky Rudd bumps Rusty Wallace then blocks him after taking the lead to prevail and win the first race at the Sears Point Road Course in California.




    June 11th, 2006: Rookie Denny Hamlin scores a dominating win in the Pocono 500. Hamlin recovers from a spin on the backstretch while leading early in the race and prevails for his 1st career Cup Series Victory.



    June 11th, 2017: 2nd generation driver Ryan Blaney passes Kyle Busch on a late restart and holds off a charging Kevin Harvick at Pocono to claim his first career Cup Series Victory. The win is the 99th for the famed Wood Brothers Racing Team and their first since Trevor Bayne's Daytona 500 win in 2011.

    June 12th, 1960: Marvin Porter takes a Ford to victory lane after winning at the new Marchbanks Speedway in California.






    June 12th, 2005: Young gun Carl Edwards dominates in his first ever trip to the tricky Triangle of Pocono, taking his 2nd career win.





    June 12th, 2011: Future Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon holds off the Busch Brothers to claim his 5th career win at Pocono and his 84th career overall victory in Nascar's top series, tying Darrell Waltrip and Bobby Allison on the all-time wins list.




    June 12th, 2016: Joey Logano starts from the pole and dominates in Michigan to take his first victory of 2016. The race is the first with a new and even lower downforce package for Nascar's top series.

    June 13th, 1954: The first ever Nascar Grand National (Cup) Series Road Course event is held at an airport in Linden, NJ. Indy Car driver Al Keller drives a Jaguar XK-120 to the win.








    June 13th, 1982: Tim Richmond drives his Buick to his first career Cup Series victory in the 400K race at the Riverside Road Course.







    June 13th, 1988: Rusty Wallace wins the Budweiser 400 at Riverside. It is the final Cup Series event held on the Southern California Road Course. The track land is eventually leveled and turned into a shopping center/parking complex.







    June 13th, 1993: Kyle Petty cruises to victory at Pocono in his Mellow Yellow Pontiac. During the middle of the event a fan runs from the infield across the track on the backstretch. Davey Allison radios into his crew "Guys, you ain't gonna believe this… There is some nut standing out here on the racetrack."

    June 13th, 1999: Dale Jarrett dominates leading 150 of the 200 laps in the Kmart 400 at Michigan. The race is run caution-free, the first since 1997.







    June 13th, 2010: Denny Hamlin thoroughly destroys the field at Michigan, dominating the event and winning easily. It is Hamlin's 5th win of the year and his 5th win in the last 10 races.

    Winners on this date: Herb Thomas, Lee Petty, Richard Petty (2 times), Darrell Waltrip, Tim Richmond, Alan Kulwicki, and Mark Martin (2 times).

    June 14th, 1987: Tim Richmond makes his 1st start of the season and wins at Pocono. Richmond is seriously ill, which had prevented him from running any races in the season to this point.






    June 14th, 2009: Mark Martin takes his 3rd win of the year at Michigan in Rick Hendrick's #5 car after his teammate Jimmie Johnson and Greg Biffle-who were running 1st and 2nd on the white flag lap-both run out of gas-the wily veteran conserves enough to coast across the line and take his 38th career win.





    June 14th, 2011: The 3rd class of the Nascar Hall of Fame is announced. Nascar legends Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Inman, Richie Evans, and Glen Wood will be enshrined as the HOF class of 2012.





    June 14th, 2011: 3-time Nascar Cup champion Tony Stewart and F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton exchange rides in an exhibition at Watkins Glen allowing the F1 champ to drive a Sprint Cup car and Cup champ Stewart to achieve a lifelong dream of driving an F1 car. This was the first such exhibition since Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya did it at Indianapolis in 2003.

    June 15th, 1947: Bob Flock drives a Ford to a win in the NCSCC sanctioned event at Greensboro. Ed Samples rolls over and lands on his wheels, and continues the race!






    June 15th, 1969: Cale Yarborough takes the win in the inaugural race at the new Michigan International Speedway.





    June 15th, 1986: Bill Elliott outruns Harry Gant to win at Michigan. Gant prevails for 2nd, an amazing comeback after suffering serious injuries, including a bruised heart, a week earlier in a crash at Pocono.





    June 15th, 1997: Ernie Irvan wins at Michigan to complete his miraculous comeback by winning at the track that nearly took his life three years earlier.





    June 15th, 2008: Dale Earnhardt Jr. scores a fuel mileage win at Michigan, his first win with Hendrick Motorsports.

    Winners on this date: Johnny Allen, Donnie Allison, Richard Petty, Bill Elliott, Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Gordon, and Matt Kenseth.


    June 16th, 1962: Johnny Allen takes his first career cup series victory by winning the event at Bowman Gray Stadium. Allen beats Rex White by 6 inches but crashes over the wall after crossing the finish line-the car is damaged and will require repairs more than the 580 dollars Allen got for winning.




    June 16th, 1968: Donnie Allison takes his first career cup victory by winning the Carolina 500 at Rockingham.




    June 16th, 1985: Bill Elliott wins at Michigan, making it his 7th superspeedway win out of his last 9 attempts.




    June 16th, 2012: Continuing a tradition of cars with the #9 going over 200 mph, Aussie Marcos Ambrose scores the pole at the newly repaved Michigan International Speedway at a Speed of over 203 mph. It is the first time Cup Series cars eclipsed the 200 mph barrier since 1987.

    June 17th, 2001: Ricky Rudd beats Jeff Gordon to win the Pocono 500. It is Rudd's first victory in 3 years and the first for him at Robert Yates Racing.




    June 17th, 2007: Carl Edwards ends a winless drought by taking the checkers at Michigan. The win allows Carl’s buddy, Tom Giacchi, to finally shave his beard that had been growing for a year and a few months after he vowed to not shave it until Edwards won again.




    June 17th, 2012: Driving a black batman themed car on father's day, Dale Earnhardt Jr. dominates at Michigan and claims his first win in 143 races. The win comes almost exactly 4 years after Jr's last victory, which was at this very race.

    June 18th, 2000: Jeremy Mayfield knocks leader Dale Earnhardt out of the way on the last lap in turn 3 to take the win at Pocono. After the race, Earnhardt lets his displeasure with Mayfield be known by telling him he is #1 on the cool down lap.

    June 19th, 1960: Relative unknown Joe Lee Johnson wins the inaugural World 600 held at the new Charlotte Motor Speedway. Johnson wins the race by over 4 laps while many of the competitors experience problems, including some being disqualified over unapproved pit procedures.






    June 19th, 2011: Denny Hamlin uses a late caution and a fast pit stop to hold off Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards to take the win at Michigan, his first of the year and his 2nd straight in the spring event at the Irish Hills track.

    June 20th, 1948: Tim Flock wins the first Nascar sanctioned race in the state of Alabama by winning at Birmingham. Fonty Flock wins another Nascar sanctioned event in Greensboro while Bob Flock wins another Nascar event in Columbus, GA on the same day-making it a Flock family sweep of Nascar events.






    June 20th, 2010: Raymond Parks, one of the founding fathers of Nascar and the winning owner of the first Nascar Championship passes away at age 96.





    June 20th, 2010: Jimmie Johnson finally wins on a road course, taking victory at Sonoma after leader Marcos Ambrose stalls the engine on track in the lead late in the going, gifting the 48 his 51st career win.
