This is a sweet pickup and I think things are looking good for next season already!
Football: Emmitt Smith and CeeDee Lamb!
Baseball: Aaron Judge/Adley Rutschman/Derek Jeter/Anthony Volpe!
Only collect Football/Baseball cards, but I have lots of Basketball/Hockey cards and set to trade for BB and FB!

I'm not surprised Yzerman didn't boot Drouin last year but seen this coming, In my opinion I think Drouin will do better with the habs, there's to much emotion in Tampa for him, wish him the best. Tampa needs a good young defenseman, maybe Yzerman see's something we don't in Sergachev, guess we'll see!

Trust me, there's a lot to see in Sergachev. The guy will be a stud. I cringed a little when I heard he was going the other way, but overall I'm quite happy with the trade. Gonna be a fun next few days in Habsland.

I don't like the trade from Montreal's standpoint.
Sure, you get a talented point-producer, but he's one guy, and he's not Jesus.
After today's trade of Nathan Beaulieu, Montreal's defense (under contract for this coming season) looks like this:
Shea Weber
Jeff Petry
Alexei Emelin
Brandon Davidson
Jordie Benn
I can't read Golden Knights GM George McPhee's mind, but I estimate he might choose Davidson. Aside from all-star Shea Weber, the defense remaining won't win a cup. I honestly can't see Montreal trading Galchenyuk to Colorado for Tyson Barrie straight up. If a deal is struck between these teams for those two players, Montreal will be asked to give up more than Galchenyuk (Charles Hudon as well, maybe?). I can't imagine that would work for Montreal.
I have a giant issue with Marc Bergevin's philosophy. He absolutely refuses to build this team through the draft. Under his management, the Canadiens have a craptastic drafting record and those good ones he manages to select are sent elsewhere shortly after.
Bottom line is, YES, Montreal got an up-and-coming star, but he's one guy. Montreal needs a new general manager. Bergevin has wasted Carey Price's best years and I don't see Price winning a cup with Montreal. Who knows? They might prove me wrong - and wonderful if they do - but I don't see it happening.Last edited by Leafsman; 06-17-2017 at 09:32 PM.
