99-00 UD Exclusives Question
I know this is a long shot,but I recently obtained a 1/1 99-00 UD Exclusives card..(Marleau)
My question is does anyone remember if the 1/1 was stamped on or hand written??
Mine is hand written in what appears to be purple ink.
The border is dark green, and I seem to remember them being brown.
I cant find any others on line to compare it to.
I can throw a scan up later in the day.
Could it be some type of replacement,or did I end up with a fake??
Thanks for any help.
Is this a fake??

I just merged the Threads/Post for ya :)
They were stamped, but maybe this was an un-stamped error by UD so they penned the 1/1 in to fix it?
Looking at the set, it looks like there were the Brown/Copper, Silver /100, Gold Reserve, and this looks like the Gold 1/1. I would say it's legit unless proven otherwise.
The Gold Reserve parallels seen to have had "gold reserve" on the back, which I'm not sure the 1/1's had, because they seem like they were there own separate Gold 1/1 parallels, not Gold Reserve 1/1. So if these are the Gold Exclusives 1/1 then it shouldn't have Gold Reserve on the back, right?
Also, the border at the bottom matches the teams' colours, that's why it's green.
Here's a Gretzky Example

Thanks for your help....It does not say Gold Reserve on the back,so maybe it is legit....But why purple ink??....Maybe with any luck,UD can give me a definitive answer....Thanks again

If it doesn't say Gold Reserve then I'd say it's legit. All the other serial numbered stamped 1/1's above look just like yours. I'm no expert, but I'd be pretty confident when you look at your card and look at the other 1/1's.
Who knows, the NHL cards might have been all hand-numbered. The Gretzky pic isn't the largest, so it's hard to tell if that's serial numbered or hand-numbered either.
Great looking 1/1 !

That card could be two things
1. The real deal. UD did a lot of hand numbering those days and I have some hand numbered cards in my own collection.
2. It could be a replacement card that somebody else hand numbered but that seems a bit far fetched IMHO.

So you're the one! I was watching that card, but I wasn't willing to pay what he wanted for it. I was just watching to see if he'd drop the price. Congrats on getting it though.

Sharky, yes he was asking way to much, but I ended up getting it for about 1/8th of what he was asking...Which makes me even more skeptical that this is a legit card.
The seller has not answered any of my E Mails either.....I'm still waiting to hear back from UD...We shall see!!

Not that this proves anything one way or the other, but here is a link to a stamped 1/1 from COMC: https://www.comc.com/Cards/Hockey/19...Parrish/346757

My vote still stands that it's legit.
If you look at the stamp placement on the other 1/1's shown, they are very inconsistant with their positioning, which opens the door for a manufacturing error, or a card that missed a stamp, hence the un-stamped Marleau we have here.
The Gold foil colouring on the Marleau is the same as the other 1/1's posted, which is a big thing too. None of the other parallels that I've seen look like that with the gold foil, aside from the Gold Reserve parallel, which we know the Marleau isn't because there is no "Gold Reserve" writing on the back.

My vote says legit as well. No other cards have the same foil fronts. Back in the days, if you sent in a damaged card to UD you usually got the same card back but hand numbered. Once in a blue sky, someone probably pulled the original 1/1 and was not happy with eithering numbering or corners and sent it in for this replacement. Alternativately, this is an UD extra that somehow slipped out of their facility, either by error or by someone looking to make an extra buck or two with some nifty hand numbering.
