Is Paul Kariya a common now?

Hey guys, I bought my first Beckett in 12 years today, and looking through the guide I don't see Paul Kariya's name listed anywhere. Is he now a common?

    Thanks in advance

I believe aside from a handful of card sets, a lot of his cards are considered "common" since they came out in the early-mid 90's.
As for himself, he should be listed as an "unlisted star"

That's what I thought too, but he's not listed under "unlisted star" or "semi-star".

I have around 400 Kariyas that I can't seem to give away. If you need some please let me know, they're free of charge :)

The time period also plays an effect. In 2017, they wouldn't need to list Kariya, since he isn't in any sets anymore. And the sets before, he wouldn't need to be listed unless he was a big money card that still stands today. It's nothing against him or his play, it's just a sign of the times.

In the past, however, he'd be listed a lot more depending on the set in question. Because he'd be a lot more in demand and relevant in that time period.

If you search all the old sets that he is in on the OPG Kariya's base cards still have exactly the same BV as Pavel Bure and Eric Lindros. The magazine no longer lists as much detail as you remembered or it would have to be a book.

The want list at this link features what I need of Giroux, Couturier, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous set. If you have nothing from it I will consider CFL cards, current Senators, Carey Price, Guy Lafleur, Patrick Roy (Habs), vintage hockey (pre 1970) and trade bait.

    Thanks and Happy Trading.

That's exactly what I thought as well. But in the "semi-stars" and "unlisted stars" columns, you'll still find many retired players. Just curious for my future trades just what the correct value should be put on his cards.

Oh for sure, you'll definitely find retired players. Just may get less & less as the years/sets go by, depending on what set & product you're looking at of course.
