Youth Hockey Coach Fired For Completely Bonkers Pregame Rant

The Littleton Hockey Association has removed a coach from its Bantam travel team after video surfaced on social media of what can only be described as one of the most incredible and unhinged pregame motivational rants in the history of youth hockey, hockey, and, indeed, sports:

Someone needs to inform him that it's just a minor hockey game and not take it to those extremes. There's pumping up your team with a pregame speech, and then there's what this guy did. Not acceptable.

This is absolutely ridiculous!!! The team is laughing, there wasn’t one stick thrown or smashed over the bench or wall... he stops on the middle.. to say .. I don’t know where I’m going with this... this guy needs to go back to Atom or Peewee teams!!

I think this is hilarious! I would follow that coach to the end of the world and back...Yes, it's extreme and intense but everyone seems to also see the humor in it. That is, until some parent raising a coddled and sheltered child had a fit over it.

The only proviso to my reaction is that I am assuming he doesn't just let those kids go to town (outside of the rules) on the other team. They are, after all, little kids, some of whom may not be able to process the intensity of the locker room talk appropriately. Rather than the coach getting fired, however, it would seem to me to be a good opportunity to teach a child how to handle themselves in the face of such intensity - a skill they will need to develop in life as well as when they continue on in hockey leagues.
