Nhl rookie race: Can anyone catch clayton keller in chase for calder trophy?
Clayton Keller has looked unstoppable through his first month in the NHL, but he hasn't run away with the Calder Trophy just yet.
Ahead of the 2017-18 NHL season, it was fair to suggest there was no clear-cut frontrunner for the Calder Trophy. No Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel. No Auston Matthews or Patrik Laine. In fact, despite both being near locks to make their respective NHL clubs, it was believed Nico Hischier and Nolan Patrick would be in the running for the trophy without actually taking home the hardware.

Keller sure is fun to watch! His mobility and ice sense really stand out. I'll have to hit a home game here soon and check him out in person.

Decided to check is his progress, still a little early, but has fallen off quite a bit. Still leading scorer on a horrific team
but has been surpassed by numerous rookies. Last 10 games 3 assists, + - . -10, overall -18,19. Wouldn't be surprised to
see him sent to AHL for some seasoning.

Boeser and Barzal are now the two horses to watch. Unless Keller makes an unbelievable run, I think it's between these two...
Both Boeser and Barzal play less minutes and have less games played than Keller.

Could see Kyle Connor getting into the mix if he stays on the 1st line all year.

watch an islander game and you will see who the front runner is...no joke and this is coming from an islander fan who's dealt with a lot of garbage....the kid is legit and his confidence is only growing as he continues to perform.
