He was considered the voice of God by many who heard him call a game Doug Harvey passed away Saturday he was 91. Doug was inducted to Cooperstown in 2008. He was a great National League Umpire famous for being behind the plate during 2 famous outs in 2 different World Series but at 1 place Tiger Stadium. He was the umpire who called Lou Brock out at the plate from a great throw by Willie Horton in 1968 game 5 & he called out Alan Wiggins at the plate as well trying to score for the Padres in 1984 also I believe game 5. Doug reputation for being the Voice of God came when a young pitcher was trying to strike out the great Stan Musial the pitcher threw 3 pitches each was called a ball when he walked off the mound he was told by Mr. Harvey that he would let Mr.Musial if they were strikes. Doug Harvey has some cards signed on the 2012 Panini Cooperstown set worth having he will be missed.
