People pay $5000 for a card of a kid who never threw a ball in the NFL!?
And Resting in Peace is one of the greats, Tommy Nobis' signed RC for $150. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Philad...A/372226613931 No that's not my card but I have the only other one I've seen and my is PSA/DNA and I Won't sell it. I'll play the game and snipe Mohames and Evans and mark it up 100% and do it quick before it's worth nothing because they printed 1,000,000 more #'d variations.
His Story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Nobis
The kids story: In a couple of games or a trade or two, 2000 versions of the card and 2 million copies, that kid's $5000 dollar cracked Ice 1/1 rc auto relic, won't sell for .99 cents on eBay.
LOL Nobis is 1 in a million!!! 1st Falcon, always a Falcon "Mr. Falcon"!!!

Hard to believe it but they do. I don't really mind it as it means more money flowing into the hobby which is always a good thing.

People thought paying a couple thousand for a LeBron Exquisite RC was nuts ... now a BGS 9.5 of the card can buy a decent house in many cities ...
You're right that many true stars are extremely underappreciated and undervalued and that ALL rookies are overvalued, but there are some success stories ... it's basically legal gambling ...
