Question Hanley Ramirez being investigated in connection with a massive drug ring?

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...rter-says.html

Investigative journalist Michele McPhee tweeted on Friday that the first baseman is 'being eyed in connection with an ongoing federal and state investigation.' She later elaborated on The Baseball Reporters show on local Boston sports radio station, The Sports Hub.

She told the hosts that there have been some reports about a man who was pulled over by the police, who then FaceTimed Ramirez in front of the police. She said that, 'during that car stop, the suspect claimed that one of the items found in the vehicle belonged to Hanley Ramirez.'

Also, found in the car during that stop, '435 grams of fentanyl as well as a large amount of crack cocaine,' McPhee said on the radio.

She claims there is an investigation going on into a drug ring in Lawerence, Massachusetts, and she believes the man who allegedly FaceTimed Ramirez is tied to that ring.

Ramirez' agent Adam Katz answered the allegations in a statement to The Athletic reporter Ken Rosenthal, 'Hanley has no knowledge of any of the allegations contained in this media report and he is not aware of any investigation.'

Might, just might explain why no one has signed him.Not sure why someone making millions would be involved .....but it
    wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah I understand why the Red Sox released him because he was going to trigger a clause that would cost Boston a ton of money and they didn't need that but I was a little perplexed as to why no team was having any interest in him. I mean the Mets took Bautista and Adrian Gonzalez and I would have thought Hanley would have been right up their alley since he'd be cheap but if these allegations are true I can see why no team would sign him.

You are correct. The media taking another L.

Ramirez is not under federal investigation and has not been connected to any drug ring, Shelley Murphy and Evan Allen of the Boston Globe report. Rather, Ramirez’s friend – who was arrested in April while transporting fentanyl from New York to Massachusetts – mentioned the player’s name “to get the cops off his back, which didn’t work,” the friend’s attorney informed Murphy and Allen.

Ramirez’s agent, Adam Katz, responded Sunday, saying “The reporting on Hanley’s involvement in this matter was reckless and irresponsible. It’s unfortunate that one careless, inaccurate story can generate such widespread negative and damaging coverage. Hanley is pleased to be absolved from wrongdoing and having any involvement in this matter.”
