Three year deal at $6.25M per. If it pans out for them, great deal.

He's a bit old for a 3 years contract at that price, but if he is truly motivated in might turn well. This guy has awesome skills.

I don't think it's all that great for Kings, too old, too many yrs, too much $. Had ok yr last yr, but nothing great, considering the league.

I'm expecting buyers remorse after 18 months. $5mil x 2 Years is his max worth, but GM's get silly. If he puts up 20g/30a, then I would consider it good value.
Maybe they can get Vinny & Iggy out of retirement and put them on the same line?Last edited by dafoefan34; 06-23-2018 at 07:15 PM. Reason: Added more info.

People said that about giving Patrick Marleau a three year contract. "He's too old, it's too much money for someone of his age".
Too much money, maybe. But Marleau has played well and showed no signs of slowing down. I consider Kovalchuk more talented than Marleau so the contract, and the player, should be fine.

Marleau is not a quitter however, it will be interesting to see how loyal Kovy is if the Kings have a bad season and his "need" to finally win a Cup consumes him lol.

You just knew Kovi was going to cash in if he came back to the NHL. Hoping it works out in LA and he can produce for them.
Marleau would be a nice comparable, and as a Leafs fan, I am happy how he has worked out for us so far. Admittedly, I was skeptical at first when he came here and signed that kind of contract.
