Former NHL goalie Ray Emery dies in apparent drownin
Emery was swimming with friends in the Hamilton Harbor in Ontario early Sunday morning when he drowned.

I can't even begin to imagine the nightmare his family went through at the time. I hope, at the very least, that this wasn't an accident (tangle, strike, etc) but some sort of instant and painless medical issue (stroke, heart attack) so that Ray never suffered. Either way, we lost one of the most interesting goalies today. My heart goes out to his family. A great Stanley Cup and Jennings winner.

Yup, he was a talented and colourful character on the ice. Always a tragedy when someone so young passes away.

The guy wasn’t afraid to drop the gloves that’s for sure and the fans loved him for it. Prayers for his family. such a tragic way to go.
