TRIMMED: Connor McDavid High-Gloss Youngs Guns #06/10
Just discovered a previously graded BGS 9 2015-16 Upper Deck YG HG #06/10 has been trimmed and re-graded by Beckett as a BGS 9.5.
Here's the current auction on ebay:

Here are the scans of the old BGS 9 version.

What makes me sick to my stomach is that the top edge has been trimmed, yet Beckett did not catch it.
Just look at the back-top edge from the above picture and the new BGS 9.5 back-top edge:

Sad part, this is not an isolated incident. Grading is no guarantee of authenticity.
Just Sad

Dang, now that is really sad. Thanks for posting this catch though.
The person who trimmed the card definitely knew what they were doing.Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content

Absolutely disgusting. I would imagine it would be super easy to track back and find out who exactly did the trimming. And SHAME on Beckett. Too much of this going on. Always check modern cards for trimming, it is way more prevalent than you would think.
Excellent detective work. Get this out there!!

I hate to play devil's advocate here... but how does this differ from sheet cut cards? If the size of the card is within tolerance... and the edge pattern is the same, what was Beckett supposed to do?

Considering that the card was in their system previously it defies credulity to think they didn’t pass this through fully aware that it had been altered.

Because this card is different from it's pack-pulled condition, which collectors prefer. I believe Beckett would mark it as an authentic card, but note that it has been altered from its original pack-pulled condition.
Or just not re-grade the altered version? Not 100% familiar with trimmed cases like these. But it should have been caught, seeing as how big of a card it is, plus they already graded the same exact card previously.

And what about simply a Photoshop touch?

huh?
I would think any alteration of a card would be valued less.
Isn't the point of grading to eliminate the risk of buying altered cards? I also don't understand why Beckett allows sheet cut cards to be graded. PSA doesn't allow it, but not sure how they can tell on some of these sheet cut options on the newer OPC cards (e.g. 1988 OPC).
