Redskins rookie RB Derrius Guice Tears ACL

    https://www.profootballrumors.com/20...uice-tears-acl

Redskins rookie running back Derrius Guice tore his ACL, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (on Twitter). An ACL tear is an automatic season-ender, so the Redskins will be placing Guice on injured reserve in the coming days. Same goes for tight end Manasseh Garner, who also suffered an ACL tear in Thursday night’s exhibition game against the Patriots.

That's a shame to see and always helps fuel discussion of eliminating preseason all together. Personally I think preseason is helpful for new coaching staffs to shake down game management and to get an idea of how guys perform in the system. If he goes down in quarter 1 of week 1, is it any less tragic? Henry Hunter went down in OTAs for the Chargers, it's not like there will never be injuries before the regular season and I certainly don't think it's viable to have no contact until week 1. If people think the NFL is unwatchable because of preseason injuries, just wait in a scenario where it's powder puff till week 1.

The NFL will never get rid of the preseason because of the "money" it brings in but if they did they would just replace the missed preseason games with additional NFL games so that might be even worse in terms of players getting hurt.
