Howdy!
Hey Everyone, It's me. I'm totally new.
I'm an older guy, 47 to be exact. When I was about 9 my mother would give me money to go to the 5 and dime by our house and buy baseball cards. At the time I was unaware that she just wanted me out of her hair but now that I have 2 children of my own, I get it.
I used to carry my entire collection of late 70's baseball and football cards around in grocery store paper bags, and I'd spend the majority of my days sorting them into teams, then number order, then position, then teams again until they were so rounded and scratched that you could hardly tell the player.
My passion at the time was for a 1980 Topps Reggie Jackson and a 1979 Topps Tony Dorsett. These would be the only cards in my bag of goodies that would receive any care, as I put them in a page from a photo album and tacked them above my bed.
My collecting only got more intense from there. I remember going through phases where I'd buy basketball cards, and then, in a weak moment I traded a 3200 count box of '86 Fleer singles for some '88 baseball sets, but, I digress....I also had a short period where I thought Hockey was cool, and then back to the old standby of baseball and football.
Over the years I've collected everything, and by everything I mean everything. I'm partial to the Dodgers, Lions, and HOF players. My current obsession is collecting every rookie card of my favorite players from 1970 to current day for football and baseball. I was born in 1970, so that's the logic. I do have a ton of vintage in PSA slabs, and a boat load of current stuff that sits in boxes that my wife calls clutter. Recently I've absolutely fallen in love with the Living Set, and am frantically trying to stay on top of it so one day when I die my daughters can say "What the hell is this junk?"
I currently live in the Chicago area, but have moved around a lot since I was married 20 years ago. We're on the run from the law. I faithfully attend the shows at the Rosemont and the National whenever it's in town, and when my kids start fighting on the weekends I find myself frantically looking on the interwebs for other shows in the Chicagoland area.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to interacting with you all.

Thanks Don. I think if I ever sold my collection I'd probably feel like Steve Carell felt when Catherine Keener made him sell his toys in The 40-Year Old Virgin.
