Exclamation Patriots To Acquire Josh Gordon

    https://www.profootballrumors.com/20...re-josh-gordon

It’s a done deal. Josh Gordon is headed to the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN.com tweets. The Pats will send a fifth-round pick to the Browns for the former All-Pro.

Gordon is expected to play for the Patriots on Sunday night against the Lions, Schefter reports (via Twitter). The Patriots will receive a 2019 seventh-round pick from the Browns if Gordon is unable to play 10 games with New England this season, per Schefter (on Twitter).

The Patriots will waive former Gordon Browns teammate Corey Coleman to make room, Field Yates of ESPN.com reports (on Twitter).

This trade was initially supposed to be for a sixth-round pick, but with New England not having a 2019 sixth, Schefter adds Cleveland will receive a fifth for Gordon. The Browns wanted to send Gordon to the NFC, and Schefter tweets they discussed the seventh-year wideout with the Cowboys, Redskins and 49ers before the Patriots stepped up. The Gordon market was vast but not flush with strong offers, with Albert Breer of SI.com tweeting a sixth-rounder was set to get this deal done before the Pats agreed to part with a fifth.

Good move releasing Coleman. Don't want too many former Browns receivers on the roster at once.

Good move for the Pats since they really risk nothing and get way more upside than they are going to get with any other WR they can get now

I think Josh might be more trouble than he is worth for even the Patriots. I suppose the up side is another randy moss like year. Honestly though Bradys noodle arm would never be able to replicate that year now

Started practicing with the offense and more than likely will play this week against the Lions. Maybe being on a team that can actually win some games might keep his head on straight this time.

That isn't true since I just realized Dez Bryant is still out there but I guess he's asking for too much money? That would be the only reason a team hasn't signed him by now I guess.

So more reasons why this is such a low risk for the Patriots:

    1. They sent a 5th round pick and are getting back a 7th round pick. Based on likely finishes, it's a low 5 for a high 7 which isn't that big of a drop when you start talking about draft picks on day 3.
    2. Due to various suspensions, Josh Gordon has only accrued 2 NFL seasons. He will be on his cost controlled rookie deal this year and next year.
    3. Patriots locker room seems built to handle any type of personality. Either he gets with the Pats program, or he'll be cleaning out his locker

It's a good low cost move for a guy who still showed gas in the tank.

Inactive for the game today. Not sure why, so we will have to wait and see what happened.
