One California man will be a little bit happier around 10:15 pm EST tonight when his 2018 Shohei Ohtani Bowman Chrome Superfractor Autograph #d 1/1 and graded 9.5/10 by Beckett Grading Services auction ends.
The highly sought-after card pulled earlier in the year is currently up for auction with Beckett/Goodwin & Co. and currently stands at just over $71,000 with a little over 5 hours remaining.

The card was pulled by California collector John Muheim in early June from a box of 2018 Bowman purchased from HR Sports Cards and Collectibles in Sacramento. The ironic part of this whole story is that he didn’t open the box right away. He actually set it aside for a week or so because his schedule at that time was a little hectic.

Once deciding to have it graded by BGS and receiving it back with a grade of 9.5/10 auto, the card then made it’s way across the country to Cleveland where it was on display at various events during the National. It was even on display at the Beckett B-Dubs Party sponsored by Steel City Collectibles where yours truly was able to hold this one-of-a-kind card!

The card was expected to command over $100,000 at auction but with Ohtani’s uncertain health status, no one really knew what would happen. However, I would imagine that Mr. Muheim is extremely pleased with it’s current price and is hoping for a last minute jump!
