Legendary WWE Hall of Famer and first Hispanic champion Pedro Morales has died aged 76 after a battle with Parkinson's disease.

The Puerto Rican was the first Triple Crown winner in history - taking the WWWF World Championship, the the WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, and the the WWF Tag Team Championship.

Morales grew up in Puerto Rico before his mother sent him to live with an aunt in Brooklyn, New York to finish his schooling.

It was in the Big Apple that he became a member of the local wrestling club, having already proved himself a fantastic athlete playing baseball in his homeland - he excelled.

He began his career at just 17 and would continue fighting in minor wrestling federations across the United States until 1970, when he entered the WWWF.

The federation - headed by Vincent McMahon Sr. - was highly successful, lucrative and the precursor to today's WWE, later run by his son Vince McMahon Jr. and his granddaughter Stephanie McMahon.

Morales was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995.
