Topps Chrome basketball is BACK for 2019
https://www.beckett.com/news/topps-c...at-what-level/
What does this mean? While it does look like we’re getting new Topps Chrome basketball cards, there are still several scenarios for these cards. We have reached out to Topps and have not heard back on any specifics.

Word is that it's an insert in Allen & Ginter.

I heard that weird rumor too and it didn't happen. Thought maybe Topps Chrome baseball would have it because it was a "weak class" at the time but the rookies heated up and enough were called up to make it a loaded set. Then I thought that they would be a bonus at Topps National booth but they weren't there and nothing was said about them. With Zion being an exclusive to Panini I don't really get the point of an unlicensed set without the top guy's autograph in it but still the mystery of what these cards are still has me intrigued.

So did anything ever happen with this? Funny because those Herro Topps Chrome cards would have been selling for a bundle during the NBA Finals last year

Thanks for the info but it still raises more questions than answers. I'd really like to know what they had intended to do with the release. Online only? Released in baseball products as a bonus? An unlicensed basketball product to test the market?
Many months went by without hearing anything. During the 2020 Topps Industry Conference this product’s fate was officially confirmed. According to Topps GM David Leiner, the product doesn’t exist anymore.
