I really like the Topps Chrome done in the 1976 style!

Actually I am conflicted on the idea. I know they have done several sets this way including a remake of the 1985. But they screwed that up and did it upside down compared to the original set. Those ‘85 cards are all with a sideways photo and the name at the bottom. The recent 2014 set done in the ‘85 style has the name at the top and its upside down at least if you want the back of the card right side up.

I'm not familiar at all with the various retro sportscard styles. Its pretty cool that they brought those styles back to showcase players in them though. These card companies seem to always come up with more new and creative ideas/ ways to produce cards.

none of these are my cards and all are screen shots taken from eBay.

The 1976 Payton RC that looks like your card
1985 Payton original and the 2014 Mack made to look like ‘85 but they screwed up and did them upside down.
(sorry photos never post in the order I picked them to be in)

    Hi FireRob!

Thanks for posting these! Now I see what you are talking about. That 1976 Walter Payton does look like the Kaepernick Topps Chrome. Its cool to see the inspiration behind the current design!

The Mack and Payton cards design looks great to me too!

Maybe one day I'll be able to add both of those Walter Payton's to my collection (they probably won't be graded 10's though).
