Ok now that I understand the concept of the game and the rules now I'm ready to make my selection:

    Mike Modano C

    Reason:

Modano was never the best center in the league at any point in his career, or even top 3 or perhaps 5, yes his 1374 points screams HOF, however despite that ridiculous amount of points he's still under a PPG for his career (.92) with 1499 game played, which is a much lower PPG average than many players that are NOT in the HOF and his 1x First Team all star and a lone Stanley Cup is enough to suggest he doesn't have the hardware or the stats to be worthy of such an honor.. Many players NOT in the HOF arguably had better career numbers and more hardware and the one could assume that longevity, loyalty to the Stars, personality and the fact he was a fan favorite certainly played a role in his selection to the HOF ...

That is my pick for today.......

Hard to believe Denis Savard was bounced before Modano tho (several others actually).

Alf Smith RW- Turn of the century player, 58 goals in 47 games is impressive, but there are insufficient statistics and achievements and so he must be removed

Punch Broadbent RW Played on 4 Stanley Cup winning teams and led the NHL with 31 goals in 1942, regarded as the NHL's first power forward. His 11 year NHL career was interrupted by a 3.5 year stint in the military during WWI. Career point total of 172 leaves him well behind other RW's in the HOF.

Today I'm going to elimitate Tom Hooper (F) and Billy Smith (G).

Hooper never played in the NHL because the league wasn't around yet. But even so, he only tallied 17 points in his hockey career.

Billy Smith has a long and respectable NHL career no doubt, but he just won't cut it against the games greats.

    Bill Cowley - c

    Billy McGlimsie - c

played hockey for 6 years from 1901-1907. scored 28 goals in 8 games and also won a cup. however, doesnt make the cut here
