    Johnny Bench Cards

Thanks, Attended National in Chicago and picked up several Bench items that are currently off at SGC getting graded:

1974 Topps Puzzle (card stock and paper proofs)
1974 Deckle Edge (undeckled, white back proof)
1973 Topps Candy Lid (uncut proof)
A couple of Hostess panels with Bench
68-70 Kenwood (my second one of these, but my new one should grade much better than my other one Beckett 4.5. Hopefully my new one will fetch a 6.5 to a 8.

Also sent off a 71 Topps Super 4 square corner proof that I had picked up previously

I am a serious Johnny Bench card only collector. My want list:

    1968-70 Shillito and Jamesway Trucking
    68 Uniroyal
    67/68/70 Team Postcards
    70/72 Topps Candy Lids
    70 Dayton News # 2 (69 and 70 stats)

When my latest cards come back from grading, I will take some pictures and post.

    Thanks, Jim Wood

Got back my cards I sent off for grading. Unfortunately all my Johnny Bench proofs only graded "Authentic - A". My Kenwood Plaza did grade a 7 and my Hostess Panels graded a 6 from SGC. Been doing researchon similar "proof" cards grading through other grading companies and it appears that "Authentic" seems to be used by many. I guess at least the company authenticates the cards versus not. Some of the cards are very nice and would probably grade 6-9 if numerically graded. Just a word to the wise when you plan to expend $$$ for high end vintage proofs, be aware of grading policies on proof cards and in many cases they are not publicized.

Thanks, I have picked up several additions since National. Will post some new pictures after my latest grading request returns from PSA.
