2007-08 & 2008-09 OPC Hockey Packs - WITH GUM!!
We all recall running home with a few packs of O-Pee-Chee or Topps hockey and baseball cards as kids. Topps were the sought MLB ones, while OPC were the NHL ones, although if you crossed the border you could get Topps hockey or OPC baseball (the opposite). They were essentially the same, but with a few differences to the trained young eye. And when I say “WE,” I mean anyone who came of age to the movie The Breakfast Club.
So! I didn’t buy some of those old packs. I did buy four hanger packs of 07/08 and 08/09 OPC hockey with GUM! And, I tried the gum. 07/08 and 08/09 were a couple of the early years of Upper Deck’s acquisition of the OPC name. There is a lot to like about these sets, as they throwback to both the cardboard nature of 70s/80s OPC, as well as include retro and buyback cards.
A key point I make in the video is encouraging people to buy a stand-alone box of 08/09 OPC Update, as it introduces Metal cards, as well as contains Gretzky SSPs and Stamkos’ RC and parallels. These metals would later translate to OPC Platinum cards, which are now cherished by collectors independent of budget.SUBSCRIBE to Fultoncards on YouTube for FREE hockey cards. I am a consumer advocate focused on pack odds, and the history of our hobby. I do box breaks, recaps and reviews of affordable and vintage cards.

I really liked OPC around this time. Broke a lot of packs myself and had a lot of fun with the product.
