That's one of the many good things about collecting Habs players--there's almost always a market for them until they get traded in disgrace. LOL I will for sure pick up the odd card, and probably will crack more Tim Hortons cards than I care to admit.

Look, if you're getting rid of your Carey Price stuff.... hope that the Habs start off 9-1, and Price has a couple of shutouts. It'll be easy to move regardless, but if he's hot out the gate - you'll probably see really nice prices :)

If you've got your collection whittled down to JG + 50-or-so other cards you really, really, like.... and along comes a subset in 19-20 Premier that you think looks amazing.... and you want to add the <<<< player X from Habs gone by >>>> and make that 51-or-so cards, it's really, really easy to do it.

Want to bust a couple of packs of cards with your morning coffee? I say go for it (even if that means you have to settle for mediocre coffee, lol)

I've always found the "getting out of the hobby" threads interesting. It's something that we've seen posted here, by tons of people, for as long as I can remember. I've never really understood the logic:

Since I have decided to no longer be particularly active in collecting cards, I must blow out my collection at fire sale prices and be rid of it.

Assuming cards were a big interest to someone at one point, why the urgency to get rid of them all? There is not right way or wrong way to collect, and what you're suggesting you'll do.... it makes perfect sense to me. Get rid of the stuff that you don't have much interest in owning anymore, recognize that a monster chase.... spending 100s (or 1000s?) a year is no longer something you're interested in - but keep that smaller number that you do still enjoy owning, and realize that if you decide to buy another 4 hockey cards over the next 3 years - because you enjoy owning those 4 - there's nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes I think that people feel like they have to either be all-in, or all-out, with this hobby - and the beauty of it is that we don't.

I quoted this part - especially the sentence in bold, for a reason.

In my experience, you have to sell at almost fire sale prices because nobody wants to pay the full value for it. Everybody wants a deal when they buy.

Secondly, you have to factor in why a person might be leaving the "hobby". I put that in brackets because there is no hobby anymore...for the majority it is now a business and it is all about the almighty dollar.

This would be why I am considering leaving the hobby. I have to admit that is not much fun anymore. It isn't a business to me. Never has been, never will be. Trading is all but dead now. It's mostly buying and selling. I do not - and cannot - have PayPal. Many people will not deal with me because of this. Honestly, I feel discriminated against because I am not able to "get with it".

If I say "enough is enough" you can rest assured that 99.9% of my collection is being moved.

Totally, I'm not getting out - there's just too much fun and I like most of the people too much to totally walk away from all of it. And as long as I've got hope that Carey lands that elusive Cup, there's going to be awesome landmarks and career highlights of his I'll want to see celebrated in cardboard form. Some of those "game dated" type cards will remain with me, as will a lot of the Team Canada stuff because it was such a landmark for him. I want a dang Stanley Cup Legacy Signatures and all that at some point!!!
