Recent video of a Houston Rockets fan sucker punching an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans has emerged, showing the suspect committing what appears to be a random violent act before attempting to flee.

Prosecutors have since charged Manuel Garcia, 38, with misdemeanor assault for allegedly punching Pelicans assistant coach Joe Boylan in the face Saturday, after Houston's 126-123 win over New Orleans. His girlfriend, 33-year-old Brittney Aplin, was also arrested for allegedly preventing police from getting to Garcia.

In the video obtained by Houston's ABC affiliate, the man later identified as Garcia is seen standing with his arms crossed near the Pelicans' bench at the end of Saturday's game.

Then, without warning, Garcia unfolds his arms and throws a right cross into what appears to be Boylan's face.

Boylan falls into the arms of another man as several onlookers alert police about the assailant, who immediately tried to make his escape.

With fans filing down the rows and onto the stairs, Garcia quickly tries to make his exit. He doesn't run or push anyone, but he can be seen stepping in front of the people ahead of him walking up the stairs and towards the exit.

Harris County (Texas) District Attorney's Office prosecutor Nathan Beedle told reporters he won't speculate on a motive but 'we will get to the bottom of this and hold them both accountable for their actions.'

Court records didn't list attorneys for Garcia or his girlfriend.

The Pelicans did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for an update on Boylan's condition.
