Scanned some cards from my days when packs only cost a nickel! YES 5 cents!

I may be the oldest member of this board and over the weekend I got to thinking about all the changes I have seen in the hobby, the good and the bad. Recently my brother and I had to put our Mom in a nursing home because she could no longer take of herself and for her safety. She is 93. This got me to thinking about many of the cards I have had from when I was kid. I would have a lot more as when I went to college my brother got into my collection and my Mom ended up sending my cards to my brother's school to give away at a Halloween carnival for the school. Forgot to say I am older than him. While about 99% of my early collection was donated my brother didn't know about a few cards that I had in a special place in my closet.

So with the exception of the 1957 Dodger card I have had these since 1959 when I started collecting cards. Yes, packs that year only cost a nickel! I would take my lunch money and buy cards instead of eating at school. Guess I was a card addict even back then.

Here are what my brother didn't find. ( I have Mickey Mantle cards but didn't scan those yet)

Bought this card around 1973 for $2.00

    Rest were pack pulls

Awesome cards! Good to hear your mom is still going at 93 - God Bless.
I trade by book value & buy/sell by sell value but always factor in common sense. Collecting David Wright, Derek Jeter, Ben Roethlisberger & Hines Ward. Looking for vintage/autos of Graig Nettles, Terry Bradshaw, Lynn Swann, John Stallworth, Franco Harris, Jack Lambert, Rod Woodson and Superbowl/World Series MVP autos. Bucket - Hidden Content

Thanks for sharing as that way before my time. As I did not start buying packs around 1974.

Thanks for sharing the cards from the vintage time of Baseball! I am 67 and I love seeing the cards from when I was growing up just like you did. Glad to hear Mom is still alive!
