Panthers LB Luke Kuechly, 28, says retiring from NFL is 'right thing to do'
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, fighting back tears in a video posted on social media, announced on Tuesday night his plans to retire from the NFL at age 28.

The dude was a absolute beast and could still play but kudo's to him for hanging it up to spend time in relatively good health with his family and pursuing his other pursuits. You only get one body and the way he plays you never know when you might suffer that career ending concussion or injury that would make you retirement very painful.

He is one of the defensive guys you knew would show up every week. I would hear the name Carolina Panthers for so many years I would think of Newton on O and Kuechly on D. Nothing but R-E-S-P-E-C-T for him

Makes sense for him to do so. Why risk your life playing for the crappy Panthers? He's had a ton of concussions and is already set for life with money so if I was him I would have retired (probably sooner) as well. Too bad though because he was one of the best defensive players in the NFL.
