I wonder if the contract with UD or Topps has anything that defines what a "sticker" is. If not, then they could produce it on normal card stock and just add adhesive on the back and boom, "sticker". Would be a fascinating loophole that could spread across all sports, with a bidding war for those sports without a sticker license.

I'm sure they could, as it's a good idea, but the sizing would probably come into play also. If Topps makes anything resembling a standard hockey card size, even with a removable adhesive backing, you better beleive Upper Deck would have something to say about it as that would cut into their market share.

Easy enough to make "stickers" that are a little bigger or smaller than a standard card. Hell, if they work with the toploader manufacturers they could launch them together.

Sizing them smaller wouldn't be a problem at all. Bigger than normal cards usually present a problem though. Mini cards are well collected but oversized stuff is usually shunned. Can't think of an oversized set that has been popular in years.
