Great question!
It seems that the MLB has not been able to negotiate a way forward in the same way that the NHL and NBA have.
It is too bad but all sports leagues are dealing with essentially an unprecedented challenge.
The MLB owners and the players need to figure out a middle ground that neither side will be fully happy with. Otherwise we will be missing a full season of baseball and that does not really help anyone and puts baseball in a bad light for a long stretch of time

MLB attendance keeps dropping and this is not going to help bring fans back :( And I agree we need some distractions to get this country moving in a positive direction.

I would hope so. but my heart tells me no. as both sides are greedy. and they don't want to give the upper hand to one another. so if this does happen. like the last time players went on strike. it took two years for mlb to win back it fans. and for sure it will effect the hobby as we know it. I would think the owners, would want a season even it if only 53 games but the problem is the players will want to get full salary for the year, for the 53 games and the owners wont pay the full salary only a pro rated one. even with the tv contract. the mlb owners are already billionaires. if the season is cancelled they lose the tv money. the players will lose their salary for the year. nobody wins. so the players will have to accept a cut in pay to make the season work for both sides. it's not looking good at this time.

It went from not likely to maybe soon to basically no in the span of a week. The question will now be if any of the other leagues happen to get back and play because it doesn't look like baseball will happen this year. Sorry guys.
