The CUP coming back to earth

In the past I would scroll right past PC singles from the Cup because the prices were too high for me. The lowest cards were in the $70 - $100 range. Lately, I have noticed that The Cup cards, at least my PC, have started coming down. For example: a Kovalchuk Patch / Auto (08-09 Signature Patches /75) listed for less than $13. I'm sure the bidding will continue to rise but final prices has been much lower recently.

Surely, the 1/1 shields and other cards still command top dollar, but lots of Cup patches, Autographs, etc... are coming into reach, financially.

Is it the economy? The COVID slowdown? Or is the "shine" coming of the Cup?

Anyone else experiencing this, or am I just lucky that my PC is not as high demand as he once was?

I think there are a lot of variables. Some players' Cup stuff can sell well, while others not so much. I found you can almost always find good prices on Cup stuff, just depends on who you want to collect.

A lot of variables at play - but I've noticed generally there's a polarization in the hobby when it comes to high-end products. The McDavids, Gretzkys, Orrs, etc. of the world will continue to command top dollar but the mid-tier players you seem them come down a fair bit. Even guys like Carey Price, depending on the day, card, etc. are getting a bit less expensive. I picked up a beauty of a card this past week that was under $100...not complaining as it's great to add it but surprised at how low it's become.

I've actually noticed price raises. I only buy RCs though but the price are higher now than they were before covid on almost everything I've bought. For example ive bought a 3 colors Zibanejad last January for 40$ cad and I was bidding on one that sold yesterday for 140$ cad...

And unless the box price drops I'd rather have them selling for more than less...
