I am a big fan of the YG Updates of the big name players who never got one for whatever reason. Theres a solid number out there like that.

Upper Deck does really well with buybacks, rehashed designs, etc.

We're 20 years in, for the "modern" use of YGs (I'm not counting the early 90s, or MVP years).

IMO - If Upper Deck wanted to do something new, that had no actual rookie content (i.e. COVID messes with their plans) - What would be a huge hit for them:

    "Upper Deck Young Guns"

Make a 250 card set, only featuring players from the last 20 years that didn't get a Young Gun. For each player, use the YG style from their RC year. It wouldn't be all superstars (most Superstars got a YG) but there's be a lot of good players.

They wouldn't even need to include GU or Auto hits. A pack of 6 cards.... 5 "base" (all YGs) and 1 Insert (Canvas, Acetate, Clear Cut, whatever)

I'll take a Josh Gorges please! Maybe even a Max Pacioretty.

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Speaking of rookies. There will be a great milking season for UD, the Lafreniere is coming!

And speaking of cards UD will make players rookies as they please, for instance Nikita Gusev who doesn't qualifies for a NHL Rookie status and Zachary Fucale. All right I would understand about Gusev but Fucale cards are laughingstock.

By the way, at the last lock-out shortened season was only one release, so I don't see the problem.
