What Players Should I Invest In?

Who are the top guys that i should try and get cards of, I know the stars like Brady Mahomes Brees etc But i'm kinda looking for guys who can go up in value like Joe Burrow. I have been a hockey card collector for 5 years and a lifelong sports fan.

It is really tough to invest in NFL players. Everyone gravitates towards QBs so they usually have a big buy in price (see Joe Burrow). If they flop they are basically worthless so you are hoping they turn in Tom Brady or Drew Brees. Other way would be to target QBs that don't start the first year or are backups on good teams and pay less for their stuff and hope they turn into something special.

It is very hard to invest in players these days, just like Peter said! I don't invest these days anymore because of the craziness of the hobby!

I personally don’t mess with current players because I never have the luck to pick the right ones. Need proof? I have a box full of old Tommy Maddox and Dan McGuire cards that wouldn’t be good enough to use to start a bonfire with.

I have recently started collecting more vintage cards. Key word is “collecting”. The bad news is most wont rise in price a whole lot but they won’t drop in price as much either because they are established and their careers are set in stone.

If you can get those special cards of those special players that haven’t “made it big” for cheap, you have a far better opportunity to make a large profit in a short time.

Again I am a collector and think more of my cards as something I spend my money on now on cards I can enjoy. Later down the road my kids can either enjoy them as well or at least I know they will be able to sell them and put some coin in their pockets.

I am PCing Emmitt Smith and Derek Jeter big time these days. I am only collecting for the fun of it not for resell like I use to do all the time. The hobby is suppose to be fun but it has become more big business!

It's a sellers market right now. Personally I wouldn't be investing in anything right now. As others mentioned, it's about buying low, selling high, just like the stock market. If there are guys out there you think are undervalued, invest in them. Otherwise you can spread your risk by getting an index of QBs like guys drafted from 2016-2020 plus a handful of value stable guys like future HoFers. The latter are low risk but low reward, requires you to sit on them for a longish time. The newer guys are high risk, high rewards. Might be able to move fast at profit but just as easily lose your pants.
