I cant believe the Jump in prices in just a week
Not even 2 weeks ago I was buying Mcdavid PSa 10 YGs for around $1250 USD. There were a few BINS listed at $1400-$1500. Within the last 2 weeks, They are now selling for $2000. Im not complaining at all but thats insane!!! A 1-2 week period and they jump $700! I think it just goes to show we havent even come close to hitting the climax on NHL superstar rookie cards.
I mean Quinn Hughes YGs were selling for $30-$35 on ebay during the summer They are selling for $70 right now. Its the Offseason and it doubled in price. I understand Ovy Mcdavid and Sid jumping but Quinn Hughes? We are certainly seeing something special with sports cards in 2020.Flickr: Hidden Content

That is very true but I think in the end there going to be some major price corrections in the future. Of course I would like to know where most of the dollars are coming from. As I know the dollars for graded basketball is overseas and that why Basketball went nuts. Not sure if those two same countries are not delving into the other sports as much as I not really paid attention to it as it just all gone to crazy. I find it amazing that people are opening shops during a pandemic imo. A member in Vancouver posted this and gave it a shout out to the city which I currently live. If there is a correction like in the 90's it will happen once again and the grading cannot keep up for 10 years in my opinion. I mean Panini has even released more cards than planned as they have a printing press that can just pump out money as much as they want as even folks are buying retail like NUTS.

So for everyone that wins now someone is going to be the one who loses. The key is when to cash out.

It's all cards across the board from all sports that have spiked. It's been steadily climbing since April, and just in the past month is where the real noticeable spike has taken place.

Oh for sure. I agree with everything youve said. The other question is what cards will see a correction in the hobby. I think the Vinatge cards are safe. I also think Crosby, Mcdavid and Ovechkin are safe from a correction. In fact I think any of those 3s rookie cards will always increase and never experience a correction. Only time will tell. I was just stunned at at the major increase in those mcdavid psa 10s within 1 week basically

I think the OPC Gretzky PSA 10 sale for 1.3 million has boosted interest as well. People are digging through their old shoe boxes and getting into cards again.
Ovy YG's are disappearing fast on eBay so the prices just keeps climbing. Other star ygs are following, especially PSA 10s
I can see Crosby values staying but not sure about Mcdavid. They seem so high for someone with no cups and maybe never scores 50 goals.
Pettersson YGs seems to being going up by the week as well...interesting time in the hobby.

Woa...I see a new eBay listing Ovy PSA 10, asking 5,200 and also 2 more asking 7,000 and 7.5 k.
How long before it hits 10k??
Strange how PSA has surpassed BGS in value.

Such a ridiculous amount of money being dropped lately. It's awesome. Our hobby is THRIVING right now !
As for PSA surpassing BGA in modern cards, I find that so interesting as well and it's been a very cool hobby "shift" as well. Hardcore collectors are just looking for those big 10's right now.Jhonas Enroth Card Collector & Host of the Hidden Content

I`ve never been much into grading, but have always heard those that are say ``PSA for Vintage, BGS for Modern``.
It`s big time RCs that are climbing like crazy, and I suspect that PSA is getting the benefit for two reasons:
1. People with vintage heavy collections already have mostly PSA... and they want uniformity with the modern cards they`re adding.
2. PSA 10s are, I guess, easier to get than BGS. They`d rather have the PSA 10 than Beckett 9.5

We often hear that and it's one of the biggest myth in hockey cards
I think that the PSA increase in value and popularity in hockey cards comes from basketball. One thing for sure, basketball had a big effect on Prizm hockey value.

While the Canadians lost last night's gold medal game, the spike in sale values for cards of the players who were on this year's squad was insane. Looking at you, Dylan Cozens.
