Greetings From (Right Near) Asbury Park, New Jersey!

Hey everyone! New to the forum, long time memorabilia collector, relatively new to the card hobby from the grown-up perspective. I’m a native Chicagoan who now lives in central NJ.

Like most kids my age from Chicago, it was all Bulls all the time until 1998, when Sammy Sosa introduced us to baseball. Been a die-hard Cub fan ever since.

I “bought” (i.e. my parents bought me) my first pack of baseball cards somewhere in ‘99 or ‘00. I collected on and off from then through around ‘05 or so, never anything more than a pack or two here and there. When the world gets back to normal, I’m excited to go back and see if there were any treasures I missed back in the old binders.

I was also big into Pokémon cards with a fairly sizable collection to go back and check. I know I remember pulling a holographic charizard from a Japanese booster pack somewhere in the 1999-2001 range, but have lots of the early-years holographic stuff. That’s another trove I’ll have to explore next time I have the chance.

I just started getting into baseball card breaks in May of this past year when a buddy of mine introduced me to them. In the interim, my most consistent collecting has been in autographs. I have several hundred, between playbills, photos, baseballs, pucks, mini helmets, jerseys... (shameless plug, I just started cataloging my autographs at @sbk.autos on Instagram). The autograph hits are what got me started back in the cards, but I’m enjoying the thrill of the chase and the nostalgia for its own sake. Glad to have found this place, and looking forward to being around!
