Set Builders - How does this work for you? (14-15 SPA)

So the 14-15 season of SPA was really heavy on redemptions for the Future Watch Autos (which are naturally numbered as part of the base set).

I've been waiting on one redemption since that season (Calle Jarnkrok). I contact UD about once per year asking about an update - this year I got my update and they told me it's basically never gonna happen and for me to just pick something else

Now...I'm trying to complete the set so i don't want any other card - I would even prefer they just re-print the cards without autographs or something and just send them out - it's all about completing the set i don't care about a BV-equivalent replacement

i know set builders are rare, but the few of you out there that may exist - how do you proceed in such a situation?

it'll drive me crazy to have the incomplete set - I just want to sell the entire rest of it now

I'm a set builder as well but have not run into this scenario yet. In any case, if the card was never produced or never released to the public because the athlete didn't sign, it wouldn't bother me in the least to have that "missing" spot in my binder....and this is coming from someone who is an absolute completist! In my mind, that card is no longer part of the checklist.

But I hear what you're saying...knowing that those cards were printed and are possibly sitting in UD's warehouse (or in Jarnkrok's house) still feels like that itch you just can't reach.

To quote Kylo Ren, "No! No! You're still holding on!"

This approach would be like the Habs fan who amasses 65 of the Habs Inks autos from the Centennial set only to find out at the very end the reason he's never seen the Jacques Lemaire auto is because he lost the cards and they never made it to the packs....and then giving up on an amazing accomplishment of a set-building project. Keep the decoy/redemption card, accept it's always going to look that way, and mark as complete.

    Time for the next challenge!

Very tough situation. I personally would hate that my set is "missing" a number from the set (ex: skips from card 259 to 261). I would probably put the redemption card in it's place as a permanent place holder and leave it like that. Since we know the card will never be produced that's as close as you can get
