]I bought a bunch of 1994 Topps Finest baseball, have them stored away. Full set in a binder, singles in a box. I unloaded all my refractors a couple years ago, as they were starting to turn. Figured dump them while I could and the market was still good to sell them.

I don't even have the time for it but somebody who needs an idea for a blog post or a good Youtube video should go through all the known sets in the 90s that this happens with and those that so far immune from it. I know it happpens with 1994 Finest baseball because I have some of that but does it happen with 1993 and 1995? Maybe the 1995 Topps Finest football set is immune (it isn't) but go through something like that.

Honestly if the Kobe Bryant wasn't so famous and his best card I don't think the proper attention would have occurred with this stuff. I know some inserts and parallels are hot from the 90s but everyone who complained and brought this up was given flack except for the Kobe because it was a top card as soon as it was released.

Not knowing anything about the politics of things, I would wonder why card grading companies don't just give people guidance in general to establish trust and set themselves apart from the grading companies that tell you nothing about why your card was graded that way and have a good day.

There really is no need for them to tell you anything. As long as people are clamoring to get cards graded and they are backlogged why should they be transparent? There is AI out there that tell you specifically what flaws in your card caused the grade etc..
