NHL inks seven year $1 billion deal with Turner Sports
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-NBC-run.html
The National Hockey League is coming to TNT after signing a seven-year media rights deal worth $1 billion.
The deal, which was announced Tuesday, will begin next season, and signals the end of NBC's run as one of the league's broadcast partner. NBC has broadcast games since 2005 and is in the final season of a 10-year contract.
The NHL recently finalized another national media rights deal with Disney-owned ESPN, which will pay a reported $2 billion over the next decade for broadcast and streaming rights.
The TNT arrangement includes three Stanley Cup Finals, up to 72 regular-season games, half of the first- and second-round playoff games on TNT and TBS as well as a conference final series. One of the regular-season games will be the NHL Winter Classic, which is played on New Year's Day.
It also includes live streaming and digital rights across WarnerMedia properties, including HBO Max and Bleacher Report. When the Stanley Cup Finals are shown on Turner in 2023, it will mark the first time since 1994 they will be only on cable.

Well this is interesting..
I wonder what the basketball fans are going to say when they tune to TNT or TBS expecting to catch a basketball game and see hockey, lol.
I suppose it's a good move considering the NHL is targeting a different demographic, and obviously hockey fans in the US will tune in so yea it doesn't hurt.. I wonder if they will have blackouts? I hope not.. I mean TNT and TBS are "superstaions" much like WGN so this is a bit different...

I like that their demo graphic showed Andrew Ference as the Oilers captain. They're super-on-point.
Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

So I guess this means that ESPN's deal will have next year's Stanley Cup FINAL broadcast on ABC.

I wonder if TNT will colorize the old classic NHL games and re-broadcast them.
