Post Why do it in the first place

    Greetings:
I know that times are hard for all of us in the collecting world. There's not enough things to buy at retailers or can't attend a show anymore. The shop prices are outrageous as well I can't get to a shop cause of the pandemic restrictions etc..... anyway I have lately seen almost everywhere on the news from the small towns that most relying on cause they can't get to bigger places to even bigger places that have 10xs the smaller ones in the inventory. What do I see people on surveillance breaking into our shops stealing boxes, cases, supplies etc....why would you do it. You are hurting the hobby all cause you have to have the hottest products to open up sell on eBay or sell it back to the place you stole it from. It doesn't make any sense to do it cause like I mentioned you are hurting the hobby that I have enjoyed since I was a kid you will make it more difficult when we can have bigger shows like the National Sports Card Convention possibly in Rosemont,Illinois in late July early August to have heightened security or even the small monthly show in a shopping center mall or even recreational center as well. Most of you will bring backpacks to the shows sooner than later you'll find out you will not be able to attend the event cause of the backpack I don't want to have scanners at shows too see what's in the bags & don't bring it to the shops if possible make 1-3 trips back to the vehicle if you are the type of a person that are only interested in the money than collecting for the enjoyment of getting a set completed. I collect cards for the historical view not for a quick buck or two. Most people who have traded with me know I try to complete sets as well the only money I make in cards is sometimes made by making sets or helping someone out that's been looking for that particular item cause they haven't been able to find any more of the product. I just hope that if you keep breaking in after hours at shops you're just not just someone who ruined the hobby you're someone that can be said to be a Frankly Undermining Collecting Kaos Idiot Numbskull Goofball dummy. As I said before I understand that times are troubled but we can generally get through it better just be patient. Please don't ruin the hobby that I love & if I catch you breaking into a shop after hours or trying to resell a bunch of unopened boxes back to the place after you stolen them or on eBay you might to make sure that you sleep with 1 eye open. I want to apologize for this long reading but I just wanted to say something about the rise in theft at shops & shows hopefully we can find those who do that & put them in jail & then we can go back to enjoy the cards. Thanks for reading.

They do it because they're listening to some YouTube jackanapes like "Gary Vee".

I was at a Walmart a few weeks back, and bought 2 hanger boxes of Topps Heritage at approximately $11.50 each. While I'm at the checkout, another dude shows up, and scoops up the other three boxes on the shelf. Don't know if this guy was one of the greedy ones. Don't know if he's got kids. Planning on going back to that same Walmart this weekend to see what's there.

In a Milwaukee suburb, they had an altercation at a Target that has resulted in the retail chain suspending in-store sales of sports & collectible gaming cards (i.e. Magic, Pokemon). Four men were arrested. One had a gun. None of these guys have been ID'd as of now. These people don't care about anything but their own self-interest.

This is it for me. I've been a retail guy for 20 years, so if there's no more retail then my hobby is finished.

I love near Milwaukee. At the Tagets and Walmarts, you're only allowed to buy 1 pack per visit. This sucks, because I collect for the fun of it, not the resale.
Collecting Topps Brewers. I PC Jonathan Lucroy, Paul Molitor, Christian Yelich, Robin Yount, and Ken Griffey Jr.

Last week, for the first time ever, I was able to catch the delivery person as she was stocking cards on the shelf. I was checking them out when she told me that the better ones were behind a register and that they were three boxes per customer. I asked why things got to this point and she told me,and I quote, "Men behaving badly" . She also told me that Wal-Mart will probably be following Target in that they will no longer sell sportscards. Thanks "Mr. Profit", you are ruining the hobby for the people that enjoy it!

Greed and stupidity has taken over the hobby there's nothing else to it.
