Check out the link in my post this morning. Price has a knee injury that could require surgery, and he is getting an opinion from another specialist this week. The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators,Guy Lafleur, + trade bait.

Kraken will have a decent roster. Maybe not as good as the Knights were when they first started, but they will have some decent depth with the names out there. Selecting Price would be the absolute worst thing to do b/c even with how great he was during the playoffs this year, he has been on the steep decline during the regular seasons for the past several seasons. That plus his injury, salary and having better and cheaper alternatives out there in goal the Kraken should go with someone else. Leafs might lose Mikheyev which automatically makes the team better offensively..

I'm on the news! CTV Montreal rang me up yesterday wanting to talk about Carey. Can be seen here:

I'm near the end, roughly 2:00 in to the video. Enjoy. LOL

I disagree with you. If you go back and look at what Vegas drafted, it was not good on the drafted players themselves. It was the side deals that made the Knights roster good, then a force because of all of the additional draft capital they had.
Seattle is going to have a better roster night 1 then vegas did, it's what happens after night 1 that is going to make a difference.
As for Price.
If I am Francis, it's a 10.5 Million dollar poison pill - BUT YOU TAKE IT ANYHOW! That 10.5 Million cap hit is going to be worth it in the first 3-4 years just off the ice alone. Granted, Seattle is not Vegas in the sense that Seattle has had the WHL and is close to Vancouver so growing the awareness is probably not as steep as it was in Vegas BUT it would still be the most recognizable name to the non die-hard hockey fan.
Now if he's hurt to the point that he might ever play again, then thats different. But from what I am reading, this does not appear to be that.

From the Caps, I have my hope-they-take list, and the probably-getting-taken list.
My hope is that they take Dillon. He's an average/slightly above average d-man, but man, his contract is brutal.
They are probably taking Jensen or Schultz, though, with an outside chance on Vanecek. There are better goalies available than Vanecek, but his salary is nice since it's still an ELC. Jensen and Schultz are both better IMO than Dillon, so that's what I'm guessing they are going to do.
On the no-way-in-heck list sits Ovechkin. They can waste their pick on him if they want, but I have a feeling that the contract has already been agreed upon, but everyone is waiting to see what happens after the draft and how much money the Caps will have to sign him.

Obviously Price didn't like the answer of his current specialist which is why he is turning to another specialist in New York for a second opinion. Bergevin obviously didn't like the assessment which is why he was so quick to protect Allen. It is not like he had an urgent need for the Cap Space because it looks like he has lost Weber and Danault anyway.

If I'm Ron Francis, Ovechkin is the guy I'm talking to all day everyday until Wednesday. No deal in place and Seattle has a 3-day exclusive window with FAs.
There aren't really any focal-point guys to build around. I'd gladly take the last few years of Ovi's career to build with in Seattle, even if it costs a premium.
As others have noted, Seattle has the potential at a deeper roster than Vegas, but they don't have a cornerstone.

vanecek was one of the goalies I was hoping Buffalo would have been able to pick up prior to the trade freeze for a pick (I really wanted Adin Hill - ask @ravens_creed about how I felt when that trade was announced on Saturday - lets just say its non-SCF appropriate ). I think Seattle has options with young goalies and I would not be shocked if they took Vanecek to immediately flip him to Detroit or Buffalo for an pick (Kahkonen from MIN / Daccord from OTT are other goalies to watch IMO).
now this is an interesting idea. We talk about Price but Ovie, even at 36 going after Gretzky's record would be
1) The cornerstone player
2) Having people be interested in Kraken games, especially with the new TV deal with ESPN and Turner Sports in the US for next season.
Like Price, the off-ice marketing would be huge, but on a much higher level.
with all that said, I doubt Ovie signs to go to Seattle
