Post Evander Kane to Be Investigated by NHL For Betting On Sharks Games

    https://www.totalprosports.com/2021/...ks-games-pics/

On Saturday, the National Hockey League launched a full investigation into the conduct of San Jose Sharks star Evander Kane after his wife, Anna, made a series of Instagram posts alleging that her husband has been gambling on his own games.

According to Anna Kane, her husband Evander Kane has been throwing games with the San Jose Sharks to fund his gambling addiction. She also accused him of taking vacations and partying while she and his baby are at home without enough money for formula.

Back in 2019, Kane was accused of failing to pay back one Las Vegas bookmaker after receiving $500,000 in gambling markers. Just this year, he was the subject of a lawsuit from one of his creditors that accused him of having a “serious gambling problem.”

    Indeed, lol..

Look, I think Kane is an a-hole but I don't care if he bet on games unless it turns out he was tossing games - but how much of an impact could one player have? also, you'd think if he was betting against the Sharks the boys would have given him "a pillow party" by this point...

I feel the same way about Pete Rose, it kinda pisses me off that gambling is treated as an irredeemable criminal act.. I mean it's one thing if you're betting against yourself and tossing games but it's another if you're betting on yourself er your team.. If you think about it, betting on yourself is actually incentive to go the extra mile.

Baseball, it's written in the clubhouse. Bet on baseball, and you'll be banned. Maybe the rule isn't fair - but it's the rule. Rose is (undeniably) one of the greatest hitters of all time. Myself, I mostly think the lifetime ban / no HOF is overkill for what he did.... but I can see the point.

I mostly agree with what you said (betting on your team to win) would fall somewhere between harmless, and "extra incentive" to do well.... if we're limiting the conversation to position players, and maybe even pitchers. A manager? I disagree. If a team was playing a four game series, and he has a lot of money riding on game 3 (or is planning to bet a lot of money on game 3) - That could affect how he manages all four games, particularly when it comes to the pitching staff.

Betting on the sport you play may not be a great look... but if Kane (for example) is betting on a Vegas vs Arizona game, I would say "so what?". If he's betting on his own games, particularly if he bet on his team to lose - that's a terrible look, and even if the NHL didn't specially ban it - if he was found to be throwing games, point shaving, or anything like that - he's probably done in the NHL.

One player (a forward) probably can't change the winner or loser of the game on his own. He could try, but it would be tough. If he's worried about shot totals, point spreads, PIMs totals, or any number of other prop bets - Kane could have an impact on those.

You can find places that will let you bet on the point totals for a specific player. If someone lays down a line that puts Kane's point total on a game with an over/under of 1.5 - if he bets the under, you can be sure he's not taking a lot of shots.

I have no idea if the allegations are true.... but it already sounds like there's San Jose players that don't want him back. It's seemed for a while that he's an exceptionally good hockey player, but not the most popular guy in the locker room. He's got massive gambling debts - would it be that shocking if he tried to do something to erase some of that money owed?

Evander Kane is now fighting back against his estranged wife, Anna, as new documents state she was abusive to him on several occasions.

TMZ Sports reported that the San Jose Sharks winger was granted a temporary restraining order against Anna after detailing at least four times when she became physically violent, beginning in 2019. The final incident took place in July, with Kane alleging his wife “dangerously swung around their baby daughter” during an argument.

During the first alleged incident of domestic violence, Evander said Anna hit him “7-8 times in the face with her fist” following an undisclosed argument, according to the court documents.

Kane also stated Anna punched him in the face during three other incidents detailed in the restraining order request. He now wants a permanent restraining order.

Anna filed for divorce in July, alleging Evander bet on NHL games, cheated during their relationship and has been an absentee father to the couple’s daughter. He, of course, has denied all of this.

Anna is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child.
