Perma-thread: My 1990s Inserts (new p.c. while I chase 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro)
Hello SCF:
Yeah, yeah, 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro. I'm that guy. But, I'm also not finding a ton of new cards lately, so I decided to start a new p.c. I get a little impatient waiting.
But, I also need to keep this within reason, modest and affordable and the like. So, I'm going to go after some cards I couldn't collect back in my late teens and early 20's years.
So here we are: My 1990s Inserts (new p.c.).
Let me show off five complete sets I recently purchased from a Facebook collectors group.Last edited by BrownBullhead; 08-15-2021 at 05:15 PM.

The cards have a full tan border. A simple round set logo is on the lower portion of the card. The player name is in gold foil. #2. 1994-95 Score - Canadian Team
The 24 cards in this set were randomly inserted into Score Canadian retail and hobby product at the rate of 1:36 packs. The cards feature a holographic player photo front with a background that reads Lillehammer. The set highlights players from the Canadian Olympic team that took him the silver in the 1994 Games. Although included in this set, Brett Lindros actually did not lpay in Norway due to an injury. The backs have a full colour player portrait over a maple leaf background. The cards are numbered with a CT prefix.
As sold to me, I received two copies of CT15 Harlock and zero copies of CT05 Harlock. My seller is away on business travel but will look into it when he comes home. I may also look into replacing CT1 Kariya as it's not quite the same grade as the other cards in the lot.
Code:CT1 Paul Kariya CT2 Petr Nedved CT3 Todd Warriner CT4 Corey Hirsch CT5 Greg Johnson CT6 Chris Kontos CT7 Dwayne Norris CT8 Brian Savage CT9 Todd Hlushko CT10 Fabian Joseph CT11 Greg Parks CT12 Jean-Yves Roy CT13 Mark Astley CT14 Adrian Aucoin CT15 David Harlock CT16 Ken Lovsin CT17 Derek Mayer CT18 Brad Schlegel CT19 Chris Therien CT20 Manny Legace CT21 Brad Werenka CT22 Wally Schreiber CT23 Allain Roy CT24 Brett Lindros

#3. 1994-95 Score - Dream Team DT
The 24 cards in this set were randomly inserted into all Score U.S. product at the rate of 1:36 packs. The cards feature a holographic image on the front which must be angled properly in the light, along with player name and the 1994 Dream Team logo. A full colour photo and player information appear on the back. The cards are numbered with a "DT" prefix.
All of the sets so far in this thread came from the same seller on Facebook. He was honest in that 4 of the singles had surface damage and would need to be replaced, and gave me a helluva deal on the set in light of this: Potvin, Stevens, Coffey and Lemieux.
Code:DT1 Patrick Roy Montreal Canadiens DT2 Felix Potvin Toronto Maple Leafs DT3 Ray Bourque Boston Bruins DT4 Brian Leetch New York Rangers DT5 Scott Stevens New Jersey Devils DT6 Paul Coffey Detroit Red Wings DT7 Al MacInnis Calgary Flames DT8 Chris Chelios Chicago Blackhawks DT9 Adam Graves New York Rangers DT10 Luc Robitaille Los Angeles Kings DT11 Dave Andreychuk Toronto Maple Leafs DT12 Sergei Fedorov Detroit Red Wings DT13 Doug Gilmour Toronto Maple Leafs DT14 Wayne Gretzky Los Angeles Kings DT15 Mario Lemieux Pittsburgh Penguins DT16 Mark Messier New York Rangers DT17 Mike Modano Dallas Stars DT18 Jeremy Roenick Chicago Blackhawks DT19 Eric Lindros Philadelphia Flyers DT20 Steve Yzerman Detroit Red Wings DT21 Alexandre Daigle Ottawa Senators DT22 Brett Hull St. Louis Blues DT23 Cam Neely Boston Bruins DT24 Pavel Bure Vancouver Canucks

#5. 1994-95 Score - Check It
The 18 cards in this set were randomly inserted into Score Canadian hobby product at the rate ofg 1:72 packs.
This was the deal maker for me! All five of these sets came from the same seller in a Facebook group. I had this subset complete in 2019 and I paid more for those 18 cards in 2018-19 (before selling them off as singles) than I did for the ENTIRE LOT of this post!
Code:CI1 Eric Lindros Philadelphia Flyers CI2 Scott Stevens New Jersey Devils CI3 Darius Kasparaitis New York Islanders CI4 Kevin Stevens Pittsburgh Penguins CI5 Brendan Shanahan St. Louis Blues CI6 Jeremy Roenick Chicago Blackhawks CI7 Ulf Samuelsson Pittsburgh Penguins CI8 Cam Neely Boston Bruins CI9 Adam Graves New York Rangers CI10 Kirk Muller Montreal Canadiens CI11 Rick Tocchet Pittsburgh Penguins CI12 Gary Roberts Calgary Flames CI13 Wendel Clark Toronto Maple Leafs CI14 Keith Tkachuk Winnipeg Jets CI15 Theoren Fleury Calgary Flames CI16 Claude Lemieux New Jersey Devils CI17 Chris Chelios Chicago Blackhawks CI18 Pat Verbeek Hartford Whalers
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to come with me as I dive into something other than 2002-03 Parkhurst Retro. :) There is more stuff incoming. So please watch/follow my thread to get the newer replies. Thank you.

1994-95 Score is one of my favorites! I still can't get a copy of CT5 Greg Johnson . Also missing a single redemption card (#7) for the Top Rookies. The Foil Rolston card it could be exchanged for is easy to find (for a couple of bucks, or less) but the pack-pulled mail in card (no player name or picture on it) has proved to be tough.
Like seeing the pickups, and sounds like you got a good deal.

Some nice stuff. I bought a lot of Pinnacle/Score stuff around that time. I loved the dufex versions, especially the masks.

Nice group of sets there, I'm a big fan of the Dream Team and Franchise sets. I'm glad to see 90's hockey inserts getting so much hobby love, though my wallet doesn't like it, given I still need some high end ones for my PC.
Patrick Roy PC: Playing days 1985/86-2002/03, excluding 1/1, National Show/All-Star Game issues.

Hey group. This is not the toughest insert set to find, but this was a recent eBay purchase for me that fits my new 1990s inserts p.c.
$3.25 CAD for the winning bid and $3.50 CAD for shipping. What else can you buy in the hobby for $6.75 CAD !? In some places that won't even get you a pack of top loaders!
1992-93 Pinnacle - Team 2000 (Canadian Version). Not for sale or trade. Just a show-and-tell post. :)
Inserted two per 27-card super pack, these 30 standard-size cards feature players who Pinnacle predicts will be stars in the NHL in the year 2000. The USA version features glossy colour action photos that are full-bleed on the top and right and edge by black wedged-shaped borders on the left and bottom. In a gold-foil edged circle, the team logo appears in the lower left corner at the intersection of these two stripes. In gold-foil lettering, the words "Team 2000" are printed vertically in the left tripe while the player's name appears in the bottom stripe. The Canadian version offers different player photos and has a maple leaf following the Team 2000 insignia. The horizontal backs have a black panel with bilingual plater profile on the left hand and a full-bleed color close-up photo on the right. Beckett values the CANADIAN version at 1x to 1.25x the USA version.
Code:01 Eric Lindros Philadelphia Flyers 02 Mike Modano Minnesota North Stars 03 Nicklas Lidstrom Detroit Red Wings 04 Tony Amonte New York Rangers 05 Felix Potvin Toronto Maple Leafs 06 Scott Lachance New York Islanders 07 Mats Sundin Quebec Nordiques 08 Pavel Bure Vancouver Canucks 09 Eric Desjardins Montreal Canadiens 10 Owen Nolan Quebec Nordiques 11 Dominic Roussel Philadelphia Flyers 12 Scott Niedermayer New Jersey Devils 13 Viacheslav Kozlov Detroit Red Wings 14 Patrick Poulin Hartford Whalers 15 Jaromir Jagr Pittsburgh Penguins 16 Rob Blake Los Angeles Kings 17 Pierre Turgeon New York Islanders 18 Rod Brind'Amour Philadelphia Flyers 19 Joe Juneau Boston Bruins 20 Tim Cheveldae Detroit Red Wings 21 Joe Sakic Quebec Nordiques 22 Kevin Todd New Jersey Devils 23 Rob Pearson Toronto Maple Leafs 24 Trevor Linden Vancouver Canucks 25 Dmitri Khristich Washington Capitals 26 Pat Falloon San Jose Sharks 27 Jeremy Roenick Chicago Blackhawks 28 Alexander Mogilny Buffalo Sabres 29 Gilbert Dionne Montreal Canadiens 30 Sergei Fedorov Detroit Red Wings
