Claude Giroux
Was reading Giroux will be not be signing a new contract during this season and so will become an UFA at season's end.
That got me thinking he might be a good fit for the Habs? He isn't what he used to be but could still be very useful, especially with all the scoring wingers MTL has. Plus he speaks French.
If he wants to play for MTL I don't see why it would not happen.
More importantly, I just picked up a Giroux acetate retro YG. Sweet looking card!
I would guess the value would rise significantly if he became a Hab...

On a related note, just read Patrice Bergeron is also going to play out the final year of his contract this season. This will be his 18th season as a Bruin.
No chance he plays anywhere else though, that would be too weird, right?
Than again, Chara did play for the Caps...

I think you're right about Bergeron. Can't see him going anywhere else.... but saying that, does Boston's performance next season factor into it? That top line is showing no signs of declining, but I'm not convinced the rest of the team is all that great anymore. Is Boston really a Cup contender anymore? If someone else came knocking, and they offered him good money to play for a contender - would he consider it? I dunno.
Giroux, I also think you're right. This is his last hurah as a Flyer. Maybe a deadline trade chip. Montreal? I'm going to bet no... but I don't know him. Does he wanted the added pressure of being the French-Canadian savior of the Habs? He was born & raised in Ontario - does he even have any attachment to the Habs? (Side note: He played junior in Gatineau, but was only able to play in the QMJHL because every single OHL team passed on him!).
They'd sell a ton of jersey though.... and yes: I think signing in Montreal would bump his values.
