    Walter Payton PC

Waited around 4 months for a COMC package to arrive. Got here safe and sound and along with the set building stuff it also included 8 new Walter Payton cards! This puts me at 103 unique Walter Payton cards. My goals for the collection are a copy of every single card from his playing days, a 1999 Upper Deck Retro Inkredible autograph, and maybe 1-2 more jersey cards from the early 00's. Anything beyond that is just gravy.

Nice! I loved watching him play. He and Earl Campbell were my favorites back in the day!

So why was there a four month wait?

@FireRob - COMC has been massively backlogged since the pandemic hit. They are based in Washington state and they were one of the first hot spots in the country in 2020, so lockd owns went in early. Coupled with the huge increase in interest in sports card investing (ugh), their orders went through the roof. As they couldn't have a bunch of people working at the same time, turn around times slowed down. I hear they've been able to shave off a month of expected shipping times and their eBay orders have started to get back to normal 1 week lead times.

I wish I could post more in this thread but not really a lot of new WP out there. Maybe I should be posting more Justin Fields stuff.

Ahh thanks for the info. I have only ordered from them through eBay and haven’t had any wait times that long. But I also can’t say how recent I have bought from them either.

If no new Payton’s I’m always happy to look at Justin Fields. Start a post of your JF1 cards. You could make it a group post. I have collected enough to fill a small box but unfortunately most of the cards are nothing too exciting.

I've been adding to the collection but mostly low end stuff. I was able to snag some 1979 Topps cream colored backs. From what I understand, Topps swapped out the card stock at some point during production. The identifying features of these cards are the lighter (or cream) colored backs and the thinner card stock. You'd know it's the thinner card stock because it feels like you'll fold the card in half trying to get it into a Card Saver II. Here they are compared to the regular card stock. These were scanned under the same conditions with no photo manipulation.
