New from NC
Hi all...
New user here checking in from beautiful North Carolina.
I got back into collecting in 2020 during the pandemic...like a lot of people did. I bought my first pack in 1987 at a Farm Stores convenience store in Homestead, Florida. I had just started playing little league as a catcher and I saw the Gary Carter card on the box of 1987 Topps packs and had to have one. Kept buying cards until I got that card and didn't stop until the mid 90's.
My primary PC is Cristian Javier. I also PC Sean Murphy and Catcher cards. I define a catcher card as a card where the player has at least one element of their catching gear...hitting cards don't count.
Thats me. Looking forward to seeing what this place is all about.

Welcome to SCF. Do you just collect base catcher cards, or do you also collect inserts, gu, auto's, etc. of them? Hope we'll be able to work out a trade and/or deal some time. Have a good day, Rodney

I don't put a lot of rules on it other than I don't chase cards where they are hitting or running the bases. Most of my catcher cards are from stack sales on Twitter...so .25 or .50 at a time...lots of older stuff and junk wax. It's the part of my collection I just have fun with, so if there's an insert set I like that is catcher focused I'll go after that or if it's just a cool looking play at the plate or something. I tend to spend all of most of my budget on my Javier PC these days.
I did a project last year where I put together 1 "cool catcher card" from every year of Topps Flagship from 1951 to 2021 and I'll add a new card every year. It was a fun way to celebrate the 70th anniversary.
