    charity

Charities solicit donations of old cars. I think there are organizations with auto expertise that sell them for the charities' benefit (minus a fee, probably).

I know it's unlikely. but anyone know of a good charity that accepts sports memorabilia, or an organization that could sell it for a charity's benefit?

I do not know of any offhand but why not consign your items with someone and just take the proceeds and donate it to the charity of your choice. Not exactly, what you were looking for but in the end a charity get the dollars from the sale.

Thanks, @michigandan! Military Missions in Action, a legit 501(c)3 charity, has confirmed for me that Signatures for Soldiers works with them, so I've written to SFS about what sorts of cards they accept. This is even better than what I was hoping to find, because SFS actually adds value to the cards for the charity's benefit. Thanks!

They won't accept everything I have to donate (players who are no longer living to sign cards, for instance), so I'm still eager for other suggestions if anyone has them. Thanks.

Your welcome, I know they are a great organization. As for the other cards, I know others have made up packs and handed them out to kids for Halloween or given them out to young collectors. You can always donate them to places like Goodwill.

    Thanks!

In my experience, kids (my own included) don't get much enjoyment out of older cards. They want the players they know.

I learned recently that Goodwill is a for-profit business that donates only a small amount of what they make by selling donations, so I've stopped giving to them unless there are no other options.

Thanks for the thoughts! SFS is a great find.

Maybe I haven't found the right threads. There's a lot here to look through. Except for a new collector who's just posted, the only set-building I've seen so far is for an O-Pee-Chee set, which I don't have any of.

Here's a link to the baseball set builders forum, every sport has one. https://www.sportscardforum.com/foru...d-Set-Building
